Smile on Sutton Hill

In 2008 Madeley Parish Council commissioned Groundwork Black Country to provide constructive activities for young people on Sutton Hill. The Project has developed to involve young people in volunteering activities, often with an environmental theme.

Volunteering activities have so far included gardening at Chilcott Gardens, maintenance, planting and gardening in Madeley Community Orchard, environmental maintenance at Madeley Park, helping at Madeley Green Day, delivery of Christmas hampers to older people living on Sutton Hill, refurbishment of an underpass with a graffiti art project... and much more. In return for all their hard work the young people get the chance to take part in a special trip out. These trips were funded by Awards for All in phase one of the project, and by Tesco in phase 2.
